Google Street View arrives to Germany

he inhabitants of Oberstaufen, in Bavaria, are delighted. Since the beginning of the week, their city can be visited virtually thanks to Google Street View. It is the first German agglomeration to appear thus in the service of cartography in panoramic sights of Google.



American had been constrained to delay the setting on line beyond the rhine of Street View before having to install a tool allowing the Germans, anxious for the respect of their private life, flouter their residence taken in photograph by Google bus. Several hundreds of thousands of requests would thus have been sent to American, complicating the installation of the service.
This stage, the opening of Street View in Germany is very limited. It relates to six historic sites, like the Chancellery of Berlin and ten football stadiums, like

In the long term, twenty big cities must make their appearance on the service. Oberstaufen has the appearance of an exception.

Supported by part of the population, the municipality had insisted that its city is digitized by Google bus, going until accomodating the teams of American with a cake of welcome.
